After almost eleven years of breeding Siberian cats and kittens, I thought I had seen, heard about or experienced just about everything related to breeding live animals. I was wrong. Life will throw you curve balls when you least expect it and when we are talking about a happy, exciting time like purchasing a new kitten… it’s not the best time to be dodging curve balls!
The more breeders know and understand, the better equipped we are to raise our standards of health, care and socialization.

One genetic disease not listed on the Savannah Cat Association website that Siberian cat breeders do need to be educated about is Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM).
